way to tell your story in the best way possible. For this episode, we will discuss HOW to write your LinkedIn
summary or About section using the Pixar Formula. We ll use a Career Changer who went from being a teacher
and waitress to an executive chef.

The Pixar Formula Overview

You might be thinking, Are these people REALLY expecting me to write my LinkedIn summary based on animation films?” Yup, we sure are! Pixar is known for creating heartfelt movies with relatable stories about diverse characters. With a commitment to details, Pixar writes stories that set high standards for storytelling. We only refer to the best, so you can trust us when we tell you that using the Pixar method will captivate YOUR audience and keep them wanting more!

Super Steps - The Pixar Formula

1

"Once upon a time."

This is where you describe your story s WHERE, WHEN and WHAT. Think of it as the CONTEXT of how it all began for you. For example, start with something like, At the age of [age] in [location], I [experienced this life changing moment…]” Pick something that will hook the reader and make them want to learn more about you. The point is to introduce yourself differently from everyone else. You want people to keep reading, so start with something that will make them do just that!

2

"Everyday..."

Talk here about your daily life. You could use this step to discuss your routine, hopes, fears, desire to change, etc. You want to show people what your life is like. For example, “Every day, I [fill in the activity]. Every day, I would [describe another activity]. I would feel [feeling or emotion]”.

3

"One day..."

Now, here is where the big moment happens. In terms of the Pixar Formula, this is where the story takes a turn. In your summary, this could be when you decided to change careers. That is why people watch Pixar films. Your readers want to see what significant change happened in your life.

4

"Because of that..."

Here, you will talk about how things changed. How did your life changing moment affect you? It may have clarified where you wanted to go in life. In this part of your summary, discuss how your breakthrough moment impacted you.

5

“And because of that..."

As you continue to grow, there will be moments you feel like you re making progress. If things are improving, things are going in the right direction! For example, your desire to switch careers has given you new insight into what you want to do. Describe how your choices influenced your life for the better.

6

"Until finally…"

This last part of your summary talks about who you are today. It can be anything from whispering to crows to the people you got to meet. Show readers how much you have grown from beginning to end. That will finish off your About section on a high note.

Journal Your Thoughts

Write out your summary based on these steps and see what you can come up with. Keep trying different ways to tell your story until you have something that works best for you.
