Narrow down your list of 10 values to five.
If you remember, you picked your top 10 values in the previous episode. Now choose five values that are crucial and non-negotiable in selecting a company to work with.
After Martin chose his 10 values, he narrowed it down to five values he views as a priority: basic needs, creativity and imagination, balance, financial security, and independence.

List 3 areas of industries you want to work for.
Once you fully grasp your unique values, it’s time to dive into your passions. What are the areas of interest that make you light up? When deciding on a new industry, it is critical to ask yourself this question. Write down all the things you enjoy doing. The areas you put on your list can be an industry such as travel or environment or an area such as helping people with grief/loss.
In Martin’s case, he enjoys helping people, researching advanced technology, and finding solutions to problems, and he values the importance of financial security. Based on these passions, Martin realizes his ideal industries to work in involve financial security technology, web development, and AI programming. Are you a writer at heart? Do you enjoy interacting with people? Do you like finding solutions to problems? Don’t be shy about putting everything on the table. Once you’ve written a list, underline the three areas of interest you most want to pursue. After Martin chose his 10 values, he narrowed it down to five values he views as a priority: basic needs, creativity and imagination, balance, financial security, and independence.

Go down an innovation rabbit hole.
Look around for businesses and organizations that align with your values by Explore websites like TED Talks, Kickstarter , Cutting Edge Technology , and Colossal to discover innovative businesses that are already making a big impact on the world.
For example, Martin found Brasstaxes , a company that aligns with his values of financial security and creativity, by searching for “Financial Security Tech on TED Talks. As a result, Martin discovered he could contribute to Brasstaxes by working as a Python software developer, allowing the accountants to focus on being personable.
Remember that your purpose filled career may not be immediately apparent, but you can discover it by delving deeper into your values and interests.

Establish your end-goal.
Once you’ve discovered your values, it is crucial to determine what you’re trying to accomplish before taking action. In Martin’s case, he realizes he’s always wanted to work with computers because he wants to create new apps and technological innovations that improve people’s lives. He started teaching himself Python and discovered he enjoyed learning to code. As a result, he has decided his end goal is to become a software developer specializing in Python.

List the things needed to achieve your goals.
Now that you know your goal, you’re probably wondering, Where do I even start? To figure out your next steps, make a list of things you’ll need to reach this goal. Whether it be learning new skills or snuggling with your spotted car, organizing your thoughts will help you accomplish. your ambitions.

Make a Plan.
Next, use the list you made to plan your journey from start to finish. You can decide your approach, then break it down into smaller, manageable steps. Your master plan can be created with pencil and paper, or you can use a digital planner, whichever you prefer.

Choose a reasonable time frame to achieve your career change goal.
Once you have some steps written down, choose a reasonable time frame to achieve your new career goal. Give yourself six months to two years. What days of the week will you dedicate to reaching your milestone? Write it down in your weekly planner or Google calendar. Treat it like a work meeting or dental appointment that you absolutely can’t miss!
If you don’t reserve the time in your weekly schedule, other things will quickly fill it up. At the end of the month, you won’t have made any progress on changing your career path. This situation can be so discouraging, so don’t let this happen! Take a tip from American poet Langston Hughes and don’t defer your dreams!
