What Happens When the Relationship Gets Rocky

Psychology today states, “Burnout is not a simple result of long hours. But the cynicism, depression, and lethargy of burnouts can occur when you’re not in control of how you carry out your job, when you’re working toward goals that don’t resonate with you, and when you lack social support. If you don’t tailor your responsibilities to match your true calling, or at least take a break once in a while, you could face a mountain of mental and physical health problems.”

Not having a good relationship with the company will only lead to problems. If both partners don’t bond well then what could’ve been a happy marriage could end in a messy divorce. Or, quite possibly, you’ll end up gaining a beer belly and age twice as fast from the mental stress of a battered home life.

Either way, who wants that? You don’t want to be one of those people who spend their weekends at the local bar drowning their sorrows in wine bottles and bad karaoke, right?

If the relationship you have with the company sours, then you may begin to feel uncomfortable doing tasks you are asked to do. You’ll lose productivity and won’t reach the personal and professional goals you set out to accomplish.

Last but not least, your private/social life can suffer as a result of lacking motivation in your job because this lack of motivation begins to shine through in other areas of your life. In other words, everything in your life could become a complete disaster! No need to worry though, we’re here to help make sure it doesn’t came to this!

When it comes to any company you work for, remember this: don’t expect fulfillment, but do expect enjoyment.

In the next episode, we’re going to help you figure out what your core values are so you can prevent misalignment and stop burnout in its tracks. Check out the next episode on “How to Determine Your Value.”

What’s that spell? Google!

What’s that spell? Google!

Why did imaginary cheerleaders pop in your head and cheer G-O-O-G-L-E, you might ask? Well, Google is exactly where we are going to start on today’s episode. Google is a wonderful tool to research any company and find out if their views and values align with yours. If you search your dream company in Google, not only will their main page pop up but there will also be reviews from employees, reviews from customers, news stories about the company, more information about what it is like to work there, and so much more! Glassdoor, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and other social sites are other great resources to check out when researching your dream company’s values.

From here, you can determine if  your values align

with your dream company. If they don’t, then hard pass on that company. Throw them out like old leftovers! I know it may seem difficult leaving a company behind, especially if it is your dream company, but we promise that this step is necessary and rewarding. Think of it like breaking up with that toxic partner. You love them and you want it to work out but the reality is that they are just dragging you down. You deserve to be in a rewarding relationship that builds you up and doesn’t tear you down, whether that be with a partner or with a company. The break up is hard, you eat some ice cream, watch a sad movie or two and then BAM! you realize that you are SO much better off without them! Am I right ladies and gents? So find that company (or partner) that loves you for you!
