Here are the steps to take when reaching out to your top three companies on LinkedIn:
1
Go to the company’s LinkedIn page. At the top of the page, there is a Follow button. If you haven’t already, click that button to start following the company.
2
On the right-hand side of the top bar, click on the See all [number] employees on the LinkedIn link.
3
You will get a list of people. Click the Connect button next to their names.
4
In the window that pops up, click on Add a note.
5
Type your message into the text box, and then click done.A good connection request note includes why you want to connect with them and a call to action.
Alternatively, you can use your shared connection to get an introduction to the CEO or Hiring Manager of a company. It’s like Facebook for work! If you have a shared connection, you could use that connection to help you get an introduction to the person at the company you want to chat with. This technique refers back to the 3rd-person effect we discussed in week three. Here is an experiment to help get you the most meaningful connections. Try doing a split test. Test ten people by sending a direct message. Then, test ten people by going through a third party. See what happens and what results in you get. Whichever test gets you further, implement that for the future!

Here’s your goal for this week: build your connections with companies on your dream list. We won’t limit you to a numerical cap, so go and get your connection on! We will see you next week for Developing your Fandom! Have a Super Day!
DON’T…
… Use a standard, canned message. Everyone hates those. Don’t be the person who does the thing everyone hates. It leaves a bad first impression!
