Write the script that you want to use for your connection message that includes your Why and Call to action.
These are the two most crucial parts of the message. Why do you want to connect with the person? Maybe it’s because you admire the work they do. What do you want them to do? Connect with you, of course! Many times, if you don’t tell people what to do, they won’t do it.
Here’s an Example
“Hi, Brian! I admire you and the company you work for, Hot Air Balloons INC, so much. I would love to connect with you so we can collaborate on some business opportunities. Please connect with me this week!”
Do you see that ever-important call to action? Instead of saying, “you should connect with me,” or, “please connect with me,” you are providing a deadline: this week.
