Ready to make 500 new connections on LinkedIn? I mean, who doesn’t want 500 new friends?
You can start this amazing feat by connecting with your coworkers, friends, neighbors, your community, and everyone else.

Click on the My Network button on the top bar.

If you don’t have any connections yet, click on the Connections option on the left.

Click the Connect button beneath each person to send them a connection request.
This will sometimes refresh automatically, but if it does not, you may have to refresh it manually. The next steps show you how

Visit any other section of Linkedin. It’s probably easiest to just click one of the other top buttons.

Go back to the My Network section.
Doing this forces Linkedin to generate a new list of people for you to reach out to!

Repeat steps 1-5 to connect with boatloads of people! Linkedin may eventually tell you that you’ve reached a limit for your connections. If it does that, just come back tomorrow and do it all over again.
Here’s a Tip:
Think of connecting with 500+ people on LinkedIn like speed dating career connections! Put yourself out there. You’ll find people who will want to connect with you and those people are the gateway to your new job!
Not Everyone Will Have a Connect Button!
That’s not a glitch in the system. There are a lot of people out there that you won’t be able to connect with if you do a search unless you’re a 2nd or 3rd connection (which means you are connected with someone who is connected to them). Don’t be discouraged! The more people you reach out to, the more people you can reach out to in the future!
Don’t…
- … focus too much on who you’re connecting with but instead getting 500+ connections. You want to connect with as many people as you can to reach the 500+ magical number!
- … waste time on people who don’t connect back with you. It doesn’t mean they don’t love you. They may not take LinkedIn as seriously as you do. Maybe they made a mistake and accidentally skipped over you.
- … take it personal if someone doesn’t accept your contact request. By not reconnecting with you, it becomes their loss and not yours. Prove them wrong by taking over a Fortune 500 company. Learn how in our next show!*
