Much better.

Ongoing applause in zoom meeting makes the man think if he should go with the flow.

NOT. SO. FAST. We can’t move forward until you’ve completed last week’s action of identifying your top three companies in order to target the fans you actually WANT! If you don’t identify your targets, you’re shooting at nothing. If you did identify your targets, come brag about it on our Private LinkedIn Membership Community and we’ll give you a round of cyber applause!

Why Do You Need to Develop Your Network?

Do you want your name in lights? Do you want that fandom? Do you want to be the poster child of the perfect employee for your target company? Well, children aren’t legally employable. But if your with is truly to be the chosen one, you can’t wait in the wings. Stars are ALWAYS center stage, Bay-BEE!

Of course, we understand that stage fright is real for many and it can be intimidating to reach out to people that you don’t personally know. Even superstar singer/actress Barbara Streisand is said to have had stage fright throughout her entire career. And that’s A LOT of career.  Don’t be like Barb! (Just in this particular instance, of course).

This is a seriously vulnerable time for everyone. Stepping out of your comfort zone can be difficult. But we promise that you can advance your career by extending your reach and introducing yourself to new connections. Little by little, you’ll grow your very own fandom. New relationships create new ideas and experiences that will ultimately lead to new doors of opportunity opening just for you, Hotshot.

We Interrupt This Program For Some Breaking News!

Newscaster 1: This just in! Studies show that 80% of positions are filled through networking and only 20-50% of openings are posted online in many companies. Can you believe it, folks?

Newscaster 2: Yes, the numbers really speak for themselves on this one. We’ve also recently learned that only 7% of job candidates get referrals, but 40% of new hires are from referrals. Now that’s one to think long and hard about.

Two newscasters saying how important it is to network while job hunting

Newscaster 1: Remember, folks: Grow your fandom to get on the fast track to the job of your dreams.

Newscaster 2: And that’s the latest. Join us next week for, “LinkedIn and YOU.” Signing off.

Take 1: The Importance of Getting in Front of the Camera

Are you ready for your moment in the spotlight? Your time to shine? Imagine, you’re Elton John, and you’re hosting the iHeart radio VIRTUAL concert on live TV…

Well, now that you’ve reached out to some of your potential fans/LinkedIn connections, the next step is to meet them. You can meet up with them in person, as long as you practice social distancing, or now’s the perfect time to do a VIRTUAL meeting! Skype, Zoom, House-party—whatever feels right. Your fans don’t just want to see your face and well-dressed torso, but also that shining personality!

Making eye contact, observing facial cues, body language, and simply having a human conversation is the inside secret to building organic personal relationships with your fans. Even if you’re on a video call, you can learn a lot about who you speak with. You may spot a cool painting behind them, a picture of their family, or you may notice their office is cluttered with their children’s stay-at-home classwork; all of these observations are telling you bits of information about them. So use these cues to your advantage and establish that connection!

Remember, your fans can see you and your environment too! Don’t be afraid to let them know you’re a shining star and not some boring automaton. To do that, it’s always important to be your authentic self! Remember, you are SPECTACULAR!
