Hello, lovely people! We are so excited for this week where we will talk about setting up the first date! But first! Have you reached out to people from your top 3-5 companies, started conversations, and set up some meetings?
If so, go to our Private LinkedIn membership community and let us know what happened! If you get stuck also let us know on the LinkedIn page and we will help unstick you.
We understand that it can be a little daunting putting yourself out there to meet new people, especially during transition because you don’t know how others are going to react to you. Like we mentioned earlier, if people are
judging you for doing you that it THEIR problem. Not yours. If you are genuinely you, the right kind of people will be attracted to you and see the asset that you can be for their company. Regardless, remember that we are here to help you!
Are you ready for long walks on the beach? Romantic dinners? Rose petals? Boxes of chocolate? Butterflies in your stomach? And giant stuffed bears?
Okay…. We can’t necessarily guarantee you all that, but we can help you with the “first date” with the people you have been reaching out to on LinkedIn! Just as exciting right?!?! And don’t worry! You’ll find that special someone…..very soon!
Why do we call it a first date you might ask!
Similar to a first date with someone that you are interested in romantically, the first meeting with these business professionals will be an information meeting where you can get to know them. Just like a first date, there has to be a mutual connection! That spark! Have you felt that before? Ahh love… Oh sorry! I’m getting side tracked! In order for these business professionals to help you out they have to feel that you can add value to their team, company, or to their personal lives. Similarly, you have to feel like developing a relationship with this individual is a good use of your time. Just make sure it stays professional, all right?

We understand that a first date or first meeting can be daunting! But trust us on this one when we say the pros definitely outweigh the cons!
Here is a short list of just a FEW of the benefits of setting up that first date:
1
Hearing first-hand stories about the company that you are interested in working for.
This will be helpful because often all the research in the world can’t amount to what you can discover about a company through a verbal one-on-one conversation with an employee who has experienced it first hand. You can ask those burning questions you’ve been so curious about.
2
Discovering new potential career paths!
If this individual person has your dream job you can ask them what they did to get there. Discovering more about their career path can help you learn what you need to do in order to get to your dream job. It might inspire you to want to take a similar journey.
3
More interview opportunities.
Show this individual that you are serious, hardworking, and perfect for the job! The company would much rather interview people that their employees recommend rather than those random resume drops. They might refer you for an interview!
4
Insider info about the goings on of the company that you can toss out during your interview.
The interviewer will be impressed and see that you have put a lot of time and thought into your preparation.
Take Us Home, Beatles!
“Can’t buy me love
Everybody tells me so
Can’t buy me love
No, no, no, no”
Wow, who knew the Beatles were job seeking connoisseurs? Or maybe they were talking about romantic love? Hmm.. the world may never know. Either way, they got one thing right when they said that you cannot buy these types of relationships. They are PRICELESS! They will help you get your foot in the door, you will be more likely to get an interview, and ultimately more likely to land that dream job.
